A GOD GONE MAD. AND THE HEROES WHO SEEK TO SET IT RIGHT.

Superman was Earth''s greatest hero. He was the shining beacon of truth, justice, and the American way. Forever an inspiration for the brighter future ahead, the Man of Tomorrow made the world want to be better. Then everything changed in a single day. When the Man of Steel couldn''t protect those he held most dear, he decided being a hero wasn''t enough. To truly save this world, he would have to abandon his philosophy as the Big Blue Boy Scout and become the ruler he felt humankind needed.

Superman quickly takes control, forcing unlikely allies to find each other. Batman, Harley Quinn, Green Lantern, and even the gods themselves will come together to try to defeat the Man of Steel. But will they be strong enough? And would anyone change sides, becoming a champion for the gods?

Volume 2 wraps up the Injustice story line including the 12 issues Ground Zero which is the comics retelling of the story in the video game. Ground Zero is told from the Harley Quinn''s point of view. The story is formulaic in that Superman''s evil Regime has all the powerful heroes (now effectively villains) such as Wonder Woman, Yellow (Green) Lantern, Flash, Cyborg, etc... and Batman''s Insurgency has all the non super powered heroes such as Batwoman and Batgirl. Every action that Batman''s Insurgency took was defeated by the Regime. When it seemed like defeat was inevitable, Batman''s Insurgency over came all odds and wins in the end. Also, some characters don''t behave as expected. For instance, Aquaman has a distaste for Regime Superman because Regime Superman threatened to destroy Atlantis on multiple occasions but towards the end when the tide had obviously turned against the Regime, Aquaman still sided with the Regime. Same thing for Black Adam. That just does not make sense.

However, if you can look past the flaws in the story, this omnibus is action packed and very entertaining. The art is fantastic. This is a must have/read if you are a fan of the video game or just a fan of the Justice League characters. I just wished the writers had created more evenly matched teams instead of creating a super team lead by Superman who is already too powerful!

First omnibus was exciting and fun. This collection is a bloated unnecessary mess. The Leaguers that sided with Superman are acting completely out of character for absolutely no reason. Ex: Cyborg has evidence Superman murdered 200+ civilians in cold blood, but does nothing. Then Cyborg erases the proof on Supermans order.
The story is just one giant run on. The Greek gods are only there for a short while before running off. The only semi interest part is Harley Quinn''s perspective.
Basically, only get this if you must. Its not very entertaining.

The writers of Ground Zero ruined an epic tale
Reviewed in the United States on March 21, 2021
Was great until Ground Zero. Whoever thought it was a good idea to make Harley narrate and be the center of the end of this is an absolute idiot. It ruined the story. The book goes from epic to boring in just one turn of a page.

The finale of the Injustice world wraps up here in this oversized omnibus. Years four and five along with the ground zero mini series take place here. From the gods intervening, to Batman constantly avoiding Superman''s regime as the causalities mount up, and Harley''s take on the whole end war.

Tom Taylor created an amazing world in the first omnibus collection. It''s one of the best DC elseworld tales ever done. That being said, it''s such a shame how it unfolds here. Brian Buccellato, along with Christopher Sebela in the Ground Zero series, just do not deliver. Year four is probably the best of of the three parts. The gods get involved with Superman''s madness. The idea is cool, the execution not so much. There are some good moments here but it still suffers. The year leads off with a lack luster death. It isn''t earned or creative. It''s shown later in the story that another character could get away with what this character did anyway. Batman comes out of hiding and Superman does not capitalize on that. Year five is an even bigger mess. There is no coherent theme to the final year. Whereas year one was the year of the fall of the Justice League, year two the war with the green lanterns, year three the year of magic, and year four the year of the gods, year five just spins it''s wheels with no point. There are a few cool moments. There is one heartbreaking death but it could all could have been avoided with common sense. Some of the resistance members have retired and live out in the open. This does not make any sense as they know how dangerous Superman and his followers are. Batman and his group just keep coming out in the open and are not hidden as well as in the previous volume. It makes no sense. Ground zero is a little tighter than year five. It''s basically a punch fest with Harley Quinn narrating. Taylor really made her interesting and gave her huge character growth in the previous volume. That all gets thrown out here. She is also very annoying. I must admit I''m not really a Harley fan to begin with so I am biased. But her characterization here is poor.

The art is really solid. All the pencillers, inkers, and colorists do a terrific job.

The omnibus is a standard DC omnibus. Thick glossy pages. Tight sewn glued binding that makes for keeping the book open not so easy.

I really wish Taylor had been able to finish this story but oh well. Hopefully they collect his DCeased series'' in an omnibus. There is some fun to be had here but not a lot.

Although a good bit of the artwork is excellent ,there is that familiar DC habit of going from graphic novel quality,to artwork no better than bronze age characterisations. And the end "Oh I know it''s taken us many years but lets drag in Superman from another world/part of the multiverse..!" then to give so much time to Harley Quinn, whose artwork depictions go from very good to very very bad. is a travesty Not having read/collected the comics..it seemed to go from PART 2..with expectations of a part 3.to Harley tying up the loose ends.. Then of course there''s the (about) 40 pages of sketches and alternative drawings..Supposedly the comic version of dvd blu ray extras,. It has been an expensive and long old trudge reading through this omnibus and the previous volume..and now I know the ending I doubt I will put myself through it again. NOTE FOR ANY DC EXECS In the Bond film SKYFALL THE BAD GUY SHOWS BY REMOVING BITS FROM HIS MOUTH what he would look like without them..Totally different. So it must / should be easy enough for the stable of DC Superheroes to do similar things, i.e put protective plates in their mouths, this would 1 alter their looks enough for them not to be caught on face reading cameras. 2 Give them some protection against all the endless blows to face. 3 Alter looks enough in daytime guise. In other words if Batman / Bruce Wayne had protective inserts in his mouth..total change to facial expression.,same with false/protective teeth.Over / underbite.. At least then DC could be seen to be making an effort ,to explain how Bruce Wayne and other heroes with a cowl on or flimsy mask PLUS FACIAL PROTECTION/INSERTS looks so different to their other selves..
